Spell Checking

Introduction

Spell checking was introduced into KCML 07.11 in two places - in the workbench and in the compiler. In both cases the words examined are the first string of a chevroned string - these are strings marked for translation, with the first string expected to be in English. In the workbench words not recognised are underlined in a manner similar to undimmed variables or syntax erros.

For the compiler a number of NOTEs have been introduced starting at number 800. If the word is not recognised in the dictionary then the compiler will check to see if the name is a recognised variable name and generate a different NOTE instead. This may mean that the string does not need to be translated as it is an internal message that a user would not see. In any event it provides a different NOTE to the main spelling NOTE making it easier to spot genuine spelling mistakes.

Installation

On Linux it is assumed the files will be found in /kcml/hunspell. As the /kcml nfs share should already be mounted on all development machines this should just work.
